Emtu Estate:
Emtu Estate is pushed back off a residential side-street in the quaint and appropriately named hamlet of Forestville. The 3 acre certified organic vineyard sits on the edge of the Green Valley AVA and the larger encompassing Russian River Valley AVA. It is predominately comprised of the infamous “Goldridge” soil deposits that distinguish the region from the rest of Sonoma County, and which make it ideal for growing intensely concentrated grapes. Like most wineries in the region, Emtu’s core focus is Pinot Noir. Since their vineyard’s initial planting in 1999, proprietors John and Chris Mason have carried out all farming and winemaking operations. They also run a non-profit organization called the
Labyrinth Foundation, which is entirely funded through their wine sales and outside donations.
